Graduate Programs Offered

We offer programs at both the Master's and PhD level that provide students with a unique opportunity to explore issues and ideas related to the health of Canadians, and others, in an interdisciplinary forum. Our Master's and PhD level programs are thesis based and the program length for Master's is two years and for PhD it is four. All students will choose a supervisor and apply to one field of study.

The application deadline for the MScOT/PhD, MPT/PhD and MClSc/PhD Combined Programs is April 1. For the Master's and PhD programs, the application deadline is May 1.

How to Apply

Step 1: Review the Fields of Study

Check your options for a possible Field of Study within Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Step 2: Select a Potential Supervisor

Read the faculty member profiles to determine who may be best suited to your research interests.

Step 3: Contact the Potential Supervisor

Contact the potential supervisor(s) to discuss the possibility of working together.

Step 4: Check the Admission Requirements

For the combined programs (MPT/PhD, MSc/OT, MClSc/PhD) please view the specific admissions processes and additional prerequisites.

Review the minimum admission and English proficiency requirements as well as supporting documentation necessary to support your application.

International Applicants

Currently, we have very few openings for international students and any available spaces are highly competitive. Excellent language capabilities and endorsement from a prospective supervisor are required, and only exceptional applicants can be considered at this time. In addition to the above general admission requirements, international students whose first language is not English, must provide evidence of proficiency in English as evidenced by scores on TOEFL or IELTS. The minimum IELTS score is 7.0/9.0, with no individual component score less than 6.0. The minimum TOEFL requirements for applicants to graduate programs in Health & Rehabilitation Science are Internet based 105, Paper based 620 and Computer based 260.

**Please note the above scores are the absolute minimum scores required to apply. For competitive applications your scores must be amongst the highest of all international applicants.

Step 5: Apply for Admission

Complete the application form and submit electronically.

You will be asked to:

  • Provide your Academic Intent (full page provided) describing specifically what you would like to work on for your Master’s or Doctoral thesis work.  This plan could be developed in consultation with your intended thesis supervisor.
  • Be sure to outline your research experiences including any work on Honours research projects or Masters thesis, voluntary work in research laboratories, and list any research papers, or scientific presentations in which you have been involved (important for candidates applying for the doctoral (PhD) program.
  • Select the term in which to begin.  Please select the September 2013 option only.
