Appeals Affecting Students Required to withdraw from the University

Any student who is required to withdraw from the University for failure to meet minimum UWO progression requirements may appeal to the Dean of his or her Faculty of Registration.

The request
MUST be in writing and MUST contain the following information:

  • The reasons why the student feels he or she did not have a successful year. If there were extenuating medical or compassionate grounds, these MUST be documented by letters from a physician, member of the clergy, or other appropriate individual. The documentation must contain information on the severity and duration of the extenuating circumstances.
  • A list of the courses attempted during the unsuccessful academic year and the names of the course instructors
  • An indication of the preferred program and courses of registration for the next academic year if the appeal is granted
  • An explanation for why he or she feels that future academic success is likely if the appeal is granted

IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT HIS OR HER APPEAL FILE IS COMPLETE.

ALL APPEAL DECISIONS WILL BE BASED SOLELY UPON THE INFORMATION AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED IN THE APPELLANTS WRITTEN SUBMISSION.

IN-PERSON MEETINGS TO DISCUSS AN APPEAL WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE ASSOCIATE DEAN AND CAN ONLY BE INITIATED BY THE DEAN'S OFFICE.

Note: Appeals are normally granted ONLY when significant extenuating circumstances have occurred during the unsuccessful academic year.

APPEALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY JUNE 30.

All requests should be forwarded to:
