CCAA Research Junction Liza Stathokostas (CCAA Researcher) will be providing monthly updates on current physical activity research, sharing chats with researchers in the field of physical activity and aging, and providing links to timely and relevant topics!! Learn about the role of sendentary behaviour in the aging process here: CCAA Researchers, Drs Don Paterson and Liza Stathokostas (along with collaborators Drs Jennifer Copeland and Shawna Doerksen)presented a symposium on the CCAA's Get Fit for Active Living Demonstration Project.

Recently the media reported on a study that examined the effects of resistance training on “cognitive function” in seniors. A sample of headlines includes: “Resistance Training May Stave Off Dementia” and “Training with weights can help seniors in battle with dementia”. CCAA Research Assistant and Kinesiology Student Rob Little (under the supervision of CCAA Research Director, Don Paterson) recently completed a review of flexibility literature and came up with some surprising results. This month the grad students at the CCAA are off to the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Annual Conference in Québec City, Québec October 19-22 2011. Dr. Shilpa Dogra is an assistant professor in the School of Recreation Management & Kinesiology at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Dr. Dogra is visiting London and spending her Summer conducting research at the CCAA cardiorespiratory laboratory.
