Joelle Donato, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Joelle Donato is pursuing an Honors Specialization in Health Sciences at Western University. She is interested in research focusing on older adults. More specifically, her work examines the social history of older adults with dementia.





Maryssa Edwards, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Maryssa is in the fourth year of her degree specializing in health and aging with a minor in rehabilitation sciences in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Her research interests include patient/client experience for older adults and communication enhancement, especially for older adults with neurodegenerative diseases. She has developed a passion for research in aging through her experience in the CaRe Lab and is currently working on an independent study project that examines personal support workers' use of person-centered communication strategies in simulated caregiving situations with clients who have dementia. She has experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods.


Hajany Jeyakumar, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Hajany is a fourth undergraduate student completing her Bachelor of Health Science with a minor in psychology. She is responsible for assisting in examining language strategies and person-centred care for the Be EPIC project. Her previous experience involves children, youth and developmental disorders. She grew a passion for the geriatric population after exposure to caregiving interventions and research in the CaRe Lab. Her current research interests include both formal and informal caregiving in relation to communication. Hajany hopes to continue working in an applied research setting, especially in a rehabiliation setting working with marginalized populations.
