We want Western to continue to be a great place to work. Engaged faculty and staff members are essential to ensure Western meets its strategic goal of achieving excellence on the world stage. Western leaders support this survey and are interested to hear what you have to say about your work, your team or unit, and your university. The survey will be conducted from January 24 to February 13, 2017, and it is very important that we hear from you.

The WE SPEAK Faculty and Staff Survey 2017 will identify what is working well, and where there is opportunity for improvement within groups and across Western. The 2012 WE SPEAK Survey was very helpful to many faculties and departments in starting a conversation and implementing WE ACT plans to improve engagement. It also helped identify University-wide initiatives in the areas of work/life balance, recognition, communication and career and hiring practices. Your participation in the survey can provide valuable insights to make working at Western the best it can be.

The information you provide in the WE SPEAK Survey will remain confidential. Western will not receive any survey results that identify individual responses. All individual responses are aggregated with others. To ensure this confidentiality, we have again hired Metrics@Work, a Canadian firm with extensive experience in the postsecondary sector to facilitate the survey and provide results.

The survey will take about 20 minutes of your time and is designed to provide you with an opportunity to express your views about your day-to-day work experience. It will ask you about “drivers of engagement” – things such as communications, involvement in decision-making, recognition, respect, and opportunities for learning and career development.

Western has been one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for three years in a row.  Your voice matters and can make it even better.  Watch for more details as the survey approaches.
