Employment Equity & Diversity

Western is committed to employment equity and diversity. In fact, diversity is “one of the twelve principles at the heart of our institutional self-definition”. This commitment has been reaffirmed in Western’s 2006 Strategic Plan, Engaging the Future:

Diversity: as part of our commitment to excellence, we seek to recognize and remove the obstacles faced by traditionally under-represented groups in order to facilitate their access to and advancement at Western. We respect and celebrate the diversity of people who make up our community (Engaging the Future, 2006).

One of the many ways that Equity and Human Rights Services (EHRS) helps foster diversity at Western is through our support of the University’s employment equity policy. While employment equity and diversity are central to our mission in EHRS, all members of the university community share in the responsibility of creating an equitable and diverse campus.
