AODA - Required Training and Supplemental Resources for Leaders, Staff, Volunteers and Others

Training for Leaders, Staff and Student Volunteers

online Learning Program: Accessibility in Service

Completion of this program is required for Western’s Academic and Administrative leaders and staff, and student volunteers.  Volunteers who are not students and choose to access the online program must first be registered as Associated Persons.

To access the online program, go to: http://webct.uwo.ca/webctowl.html
Select: "The University of Western Ontario"
Select: "Check Browser" to ensure your web browser settings will function properly.
Log into WebCT using your Western User ID and password.

If you have trouble accessing the WebCT program or other technical questions, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at ext. 83800.

Note: Completion of the online learning module is not required for employees who attended an in-person Western Accessibility learning session offered in 2009-2010. If this is the case for you, the WebCT program is available for optional review purposes.

Training for Non-Student Volunteers and Contractors

At a minimum, all non-student volunteers or contractors interacting with Western students, alumni, visitors, or retirees are to receive and become familiar with the summary brochure (see Supplemental Resources below).

Leader Record Keeping: In-Person or Brochure Training

Training records are to be kept as per AODA requirements.

Leaders are to keep electronic records of any AODA training completed that takes place outside of Western’s online module (this would include training of non-student volunteers, contractors, or other in-person training). Using Excel, record the person’s name, date of training, and employee ID number if applicable.  You will be asked to provide training records to Human Resources upon request.

Completion of online training will be recorded in the person’s Human Resource record.
