HOME DEPARTMENT
RESEARCH INTERESTS
-
As a physician, Dr. Garg conducts research to improve the health and care of patients with kidney disease, including those who receive dialysis or a transplant.
-
As an epidemiologist, he has published in high impact journals using various methods and research disciplines: population surveys, quality of care and health services, health policies, patient orientated research, randomized trials, health informatics and information synthesis, studies using healthcare databases, and physician education.
-
He holds a Clinician Scientist Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and previously a Research Award of Excellence from the Premier of Ontario.
-
He enjoys supervising enthusiastic graduate students and medical trainees in a multi-disciplinary team based environment. Students with and without a health care background have had significant academic success: first author papers in leading medical journals, investigators in peer reviewed grants, research awards and scholarships, podium presentations at international meetings and work featuring in the popular media (Kidney Research Unit Trainee Success).
-
Students interested in discussing potential projects and opportunities can contact Ms. Carolyn Askes, Research Administrative Assistant, 519.685.8502; Carolyn.Askes@lhsc.on.ca for an appointment.
