Professor Michael Groden
Fall Half Course.
This course will primarily involve a concentrated reading of James Joyce's Ulysses. After opening weeks dealing with Joyce's early works of fiction - Dubliners and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - we will work through Ulysses chapter by chapter. (In the last week we will look at brief excerpts from Finnegans Wake.) We will pay particular attention to recent critical and theoretical approaches to Ulysses.
