My teaching and research focus on the areas of cultural studies, American studies, and Asian North American studies with a special emphasis on race and representation in minority writing and visual and popular cultures. My current project is a study of the spatial overlaps between internment camps and Indian reservations as sites of confinement in Canada and the U.S. I serve as editor of the Americas region for the international journal Photography and Culture, and am a member of the editorial board of the journal of Horror Studies.
