Canadian Authors Association

CAA: Writers Helping Writers

  • The Canadian Authors Association is Canada's national writing organization, and it functions as a means of support and active promotion of the Canadian writing community. The site includes a transcription of the CAA's official handbook, information about national awards programs, and relevant links.

Canadian Poetry Association

CPA: Canada's National Poetry Organization

  • The Canadian Poetry Association seeks to promote the reading, writing, publishing, and preservation of Canadian poetry, and to facilitate communication amongst poets, publishers, and the general public. This site encourages the formation of autonomous local chapters, and provides an extensive list of literary resources and links.

  • Queen's University of Belfast is officially recognized as a Centre of Canadian Studies, as the institution encourages research and teaching about Canada, both within the University and beyond. Items of interest include a directory of Canadian publishers, links to Canadian Studies web sites, and a web project on colonial/postcolonial literature and culture in Canada.

  • The Canadian Federation of Poets (CFP) is the founding federation in a global community of poets and poetry lovers. Federations and their members from around the world can post messages, "meet" via forums and live chats, and learn about themselves and their international colleagues with regard to poetry.

  • The LCP is Canada's national association of professional poets, and its mandate is simple: the ongoing promotion of Canadian poetry. The League's site provides access to resources such as a readings calendar, a poetry bookstore, and various prestigious contest submissions. Its sister site, youngpoets.ca, is an invaluable source of information for teachers and youth interested in Canadian poetry.
