Epigraph

Old People’s Places! Not for you
     For whom To-day was made,
But here’s a land where friends are few
     And life’s a lonesome trade,
And modern man is, first and last,
     An alien distant thing,
And so one wanders to the past
     And finds it comforting.

And the years are lifted like a sheet
And the stricken stone is free…
Old Peoples’ Places! Might one meet
     Old People there? Maybe.
