by Ethelwyn Wetherald

IF YOU LOVE ME.

IF you love me, tell me so
     In your greeting, in your eyes,
In your footstep, swift or slow,

5

If you love me, tell me so,
     As the dawn may hint of noon,

10

As a glance the deep heart’s glow,
      As hepaticas of June;

          Naught so fair—not anything—

15

          As the first faint breath of spring. [Page 29]
