Margaret, little brother is making frantic efforts to catch up with Uncle Time.

He has just plunked the paste brush into the ink pot!1 Not so good! Language followed! Apparently he was not geared for speed. He hopes to get away to the mountains on the first or second, however.

  1. Carman may be suggesting that he has finished work on the "Oxford Book of Canadian Verse." In a letter of July 3 from Twilight Park, Haines Falls, he tells Samuel Bradley Gundy (see Letter 51 n.10) that "[t]he copy for ‘Canadian Verse’ went to you from New Canaan yesterday" (Letters 360).
