Appendix:
Collation of the Man and Rouge et Noir
Texts of "Hans Fingerhut’s Frog-lesson"

This Appendix records variant readings between the texts of "Hans Fingerhut’s Frog-lesson" that were published in Man (November 1885) and the Rouge et Noir (February 1, 1886). Entries are keyed to the line numbers in the present edition. In each entry the reading of the Rouge et Noir text is given before the square bracket and that of the Man text after. Thus, in line 12 "ill-deed" (line-end hyphenated compound) in Man became "ill deed" in Rouge et Noir.
