| The
Canadian Poetry Press was founded in
1986 for the purposes of publishing scholarly
editions of early Canadian long poems. Since
then the Press has expanded its mandate to include
editions of the work of the Confederation poets
and critical studies of Canadian poetry. The
Canadian Poetry Press series of Editions of
Early Canadian Long Poems now runs to some twenty
scholarly editions of poems that were originally
published between 1789 and 1900. The Press has
also published John Strachans Poetry,
a scholarly edition based on a manuscript in
the Ontario Archives, Early Long Poems on Canada,
and an anthology of poems selected from the
Early Canadian Long Poems series.
