Universal Calibrations
Just Quick and Dirty or Truly Quantitative?
We are going to discuss these and other related questions in the upcoming special "Universal Calibrations and Standardless Methods" Guest Lecturer Series on Friday, June 15th, 2012.
Universal calibrations and standardless methods based on fundamental parameters can handle a wide range of elements and concentrations and do not require a special calibration process. The detection limits and accuracy of an optimized standardless method are similar to those of standardized methods.
Standardized methods are an important tool to ensure consistent results and traceability in XRF analysis. Whereas a standardless method is the best procedure to apply when there is no standardized method (or reference materials) available and a higher number of elements have to be analyzed.
Thanks to the support of major XRF instrument providers and the broad interest in this topic, the one-day seminar and software demonstration is open to anyone who likes to learn standardless methods in general. Attendance, course material and refreshments are complimentary.
The Lecture series is organized in conjunction with the annual XRF Short Course at Western (http://www.uwo.ca/earth/news/xrfcourse/).
