The University of Western Ontario's Trois-Pistoles French Immersion School attracts participants from all over Canada, the United States, Latin America, and other parts of the world, who wish to upgrade their education or pursue a professional or personal goal. The Trois-Pistoles French Immersion School offers its clients an experience of a lifetime: a complete immersion environment, so that they not only learn French, but live the language and the culture.

Courses

CHOOSING A COURSE
Study the course descriptions below. You may take only one course
(or two half courses). Half courses are designated with suffixes A and B or F and G.

French 1002 - Intensive French
Grammar, composition, oral practice. This course is designed for students beginning French, or having a limited knowledge of French. Antirequisite: French 1101 (former 025). Prerequisite : Permission of the Department of French Studies ((Director of the School), based on Placement Test.
1.0 course

French 1010 - Intermediate French
Grammar review, composition, translation, oral practice. (One hour per week in the language laboratory may be required).
Antirequisite: French 1101 (former 025). Prerequisite : French 1002 or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test. 1.0 course.

French 1102A - Oral French I
Based on a communicative approach, the course aims to provide students with the means of improving their listening and speaking abilities Antirequisites: .Students who have completed French 1900E or 1910 will not normally be allowed to register in French 1102A. Offered concurrently with French 1103B (bursary students electing French 1102A must take both courses) Prerequisite: OAC French, Grade 12U French, French 1010 or by permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test. 0.5 course

French 1103B - Oral French II
Based on a communicative approach, the course aims to provide students with the means of improving their listening and speaking abilities. Antirequisites: Students who have completed French 1900E or 1910 will not normally be allowed to register in French 1103B. Prerequisites: OAC French, Grade 12U French, French 1010 or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test. 0.5 course

French 1910 - University French (Level I)
A study of the French language based on cultural, written material, and basic grammar problems. Antirequisite: French 1900E. Prerequisite : French 1010 or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test.

French 2102A - Oral French III
Based on a multimedia and communicative approach, the course aims to provide students with the means of improving their listening and speaking abilities. Antirequisite: Students who have completed French 2900 or French 2103 (or equivalent) will not normally be allowed to register in French 2102A Prerequisite: French 1900E or 1910, or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test. Offered concurrently with French 2104B (bursary students electing French 2102A must take both courses).

French 2104B - Oral French IV
Based on a multimedia and communicative approach, the course aims to provide students with the means of improving their listening and speaking abilities Antirequisite: The department reserves the right to refuse admission to students who have native-like proficiency in French. Prerequesite: French 2900 or 2101 or 2102A or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test. Offered concurrently with French 2102A (bursary students electing French 2104B must take both courses). 0.5 course

French 2900 - Language (Advanced Level II)
Language. Grammar, composition, oral practice, phonetics. (One hour in the language lab may be required). This course is required for a concentration in French. Antirequisite: French 2101. Prerequisite(s): French 1900E or French 1910 or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test.

French 3102A - Oral French V

Based on a multimedia and communicative approach, the course aims to provide students with the means of improving their listening and speaking abilities.
Prerequisite(s): Placement Test results and/or permission of the Director of the School. Bursary Students electing French 3102A must also take French 3104B. 0.5 course

French 3104B - Oral French VI
Based on a multimedia and communicative approach, the course aims to provide students with the means of improving their listening and speaking abilities.
Prerequisite(s): Placement Test results and/or permission of the Director of the School. Bursary students electing French 3104B must also take French 3102A. 0.5 course

French 3900 - Language (Advanced Level III)
Grammar, composition, translation and oral practice. (One hour per week in the language laboratory may be required). This course is required for a concentration in French. Antirequisite: French 2103. Prerequisite : French 2900 or permission of the Department (Director of the School) based on Placement Test. 1.0 course

French 4900A - Language (Advanced Level IV, Special Topic)
Study of specific problems in French language. Prerequisite(s): French 3900 or French 3300 or (both French 3306A/B and 3307A/B) or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test. (Bursary students electing French 4900A must also take 4901B). 0.5 course

French 4901B - Language (Advanced Level IV, Special Topic)
Study of specific problems in French language. Prerequisite(s): French 3900 or French 3300 or (both French 3306A/B and 3307A/B) or permission of the Department of French Studies (Director of the School), based on Placement Test .(Bursary students electing French 4901B must also take 4900A).
