September 2012
Welcome to Western Continuing Studies. Whether you are a new instructor or returning to teach, we are excited about the new term as hundreds of learners make their way to our classrooms, face-to-face and online, for professional development and personal enrichment.
Several classes are full, others are filling up and the team at Continuing Studies has all hands on deck to help you and the students achieve success. Migrating our courses to Owl II, Western’s new learning management system, is one of our priorities. We appreciate your patience in making our new virtual classrooms a welcoming and effective place for teaching and learning.
To make the most of Owl II, please check out our guidelines, troubleshooting and handy How-To PowerPoint tutorials.
Our enrolment in online courses is the fastest area of growth. To meet the demand and enable effective online teaching skills, we are offering a new course in Teaching Online to our instructors at no charge. This six-week online course begins October 15. Space is limited. To sign up, please contact Karen De Heus.
Your energy and expertise make all of the difference in our courses and we thank you for your commitment to teaching at Continuing Studies.

Fall Teaching
As we prepare for the upcoming Fall term, please check your contract carefully for your specific due dates i.e. contract, textbook requests and course outlines.
Would you like an online OWL section for your course?
If you would like an OWL section created for your course, please fill out the online web form to request this for your course. Kindly note on the form if you want the content copied over from the last time the course was offered or if you’d prefer a blank OWL section in which to upload your content. (If you would like more information about OWL and its benefits, please contact Karen De Heus.)
Please submit your OWL request using our online web form.
Please note that this is not required for courses that are held online. The course will automatically be set up and previous course content will be copied over unless you advise us otherwise.
