Western's Commitment to Accessibility
Western University is committed to achieving barrier free accessibility for persons with disabilities studying, visiting and working at Western. As part of this commitment, there are a variety of services, groups and committees on campus devoted to promoting accessibility and to ensuring that individuals have equitable access to services and facilities. To help provide the best experience to all members of the campus community (students, staff, faculty and visitors), the AODA website offers information on accessibility-related resources available at Western. We All Have a Role
Ontario’s new Accessibility Standards for Customer Service are effective as of January 1, 2010. Western is committed to accessibility for persons with disabilities. In our formal and informal interactions with members of the campus community, each of us has a role to play in fulfilling this commitment.
By law, each person who interacts with students, alumni, visitors, or retirees is obligated to know the requirements of these new standards and communicate with persons with disabilities in a manner that takes the person's disability into account.
Instructors are being asked to familiarize themselves with the requirements as outlined in the Accessibility brochure (a hard copy is included in your instructor package). Please review to help you understand these obligations and requirements.
