Adler is a world-class organization globally recognized as a leader in the coaching field and is the first school in Canada to attain International Coach Federation (ICF) accreditation.
Professional Coaching is emerging as an exciting profession and is a must-have skill set for leaders, managers and business owners. The Adler Professional Coaching Program leverages insights from a number of disciplines including psychology, philosophy, leadership studies, adult learning, and neuroscience. The Adler Professional Coaching Program is an ICF accredited coach training program. It consists of five parts that lead to certification.
The first four parts are offered through Continuing Studies at Western. The Certification Exam is offered through Adler International Learning.
- Foundations of Coaching
- The Coaching Conversation in the Context of Work
- Moving Towards Artful Coaching
- Practicum
- The Certification Exam
Each part below is a prerequisite for the subsequent part. Adler offers recurring opportunities to participate in an extensive Supplementary Teleclasses Learning Program and uses assignments to enhance learning and implementation beyond the classroom.
The Certification Exam consists of both written and oral components. Candidates for the exam must have successfully completed the practicum component and must log a minimum of 100 hours of coaching experience before writing the exam.

Credentials
- Upon successful completion of Parts One - Three, students are awarded a Professional Certificate in the Adler Coaching Approach from Continuing Studies at Western and Adler International Learning.
- Upon successful completion of Practicum students are distinguished as ATC’s - Adler Trained Coach.
- Upon graduation (after passing the Certification Exam) students are awarded the credential ACPC - Adler Certified Professional Coach.
- Graduation as an ACPC satisfies all requirements for ICF’s entry level credential ACC - Associate Certified Coach. For more information about ICF credentials, visit the International Coach Federation website: coachfederation.org.
