Chemistry Academic Counsellors

The best way to ask counselling questions is to email chemcounselling@uwo.ca.

Counselling questions sent directly to a counsellor's personal email account will be redirected to this address, causing unnecessary delay. We will make every effort to answer your questions within 24 hours.

Please only use the phone (519 661-2111 + extension) as a last resort.

Depending on the nature of the question, it may be better for you to arrange an appointment to have a one-on-one meeting with the counsellor.

Any of these counsellors can help you with:

• Courses questions, such as:
  
  • Did I pick the correct course for 1st-year or organic chemistry?
  • I'm late registering; is there still room in Chem 1234?
  • Is Chem 456 at Podunk University equivalent to Chem 6789 at Western?
  • May I still take Chem 2227 without a formal prerequisite?

• Program questions, such as:
  
  • Did I select course combinations that will allow me to postpone a decision between Honors Biochem & Chem, and Honors Chem, until next year?
  • Can I take Honors Chem courses in my 3rd year even though my academic record in 2nd year was not as good as I would have liked?

• Any other questions related to your academic career, such as:
  
  • Will this course fulfill the requirement of "half a course in chem with a lab" for entry into the Medical/Dental/Pharmacy program at Podunk University?

• A frequently asked question:
  
  • Q: I am repeating a chemistry course to improve my grade, but I did really well in the lab component of the course. Do I have to do the lab again?
    A: Yes, when a chemistry course is repeated, all components in the course must be repeated.
