Electronic Structure, Spectroscopy and Chemistry of Materials

Awards:

    Canada Research Chair
    Florence Bucke Award
2004 Award of Merit of The Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (Ontario)
    Distinguished Research Professor (2005)

Current Research Programs:

Our research centers on the experimental and theoretical investigation of the electronic structure of matter and its interplay with material properties and spectroscopy. Emphasis is placed on metallic and semiconductor materials in low dimensions (nanostructures), and more recently soft matters. Major ongoing thrusts are (1) synthesis, assembly and characterization of nanomaterials and (2) development and applications of synchrotron radiation at the Canadian Synchrotron Radiation Facility at the Synchrotron Radiation Center, University of Wisconsin Madison, the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory, and the Canadian Light Source Detailed description of research areas can be found at the research group homepage.
