Current Research Programs: The Pagenkopf group is engaged in a variety of reaction discovery, methodology development and natural products/functional materials synthesis projects. Our long term objectives for new transformations is to bring them to a sufficient state of maturity that they find use in the standard repertoire of synthetic chemistry. We use natural products to contextualize representative substrates to ensure synthetic relevancy, and in turn some of these become targets for total synthesis. We have a multidisciplinary research program with expertise in cyclopropanes, epoxide reactions, THF synthesis, asymmetric catalysis and siloles.
