Prof. Kim Baines has been internationally recognized with a prestigious 2015 Humboldt Research Award. “I am honoured, and very pleased, to have received this international recognition of my research achievements in the fundamental chemistry of low valent main group compounds” says Baines. “Main Group chemistry is well represented in Germany and I am excited to go there and have ongoing interactions with other leading scientists in my area. I have wanted to do this for years, however, I never felt I could get away for extended periods of time. I am happy, and excited, to have the opportunity to do so now.”
The €60,000 ($91,800 CAD) award is granted, in recognition of a researcher's entire achievements to date, to academics whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in the future.
