Four Chemistry Graduate Students receive workshop and presentation awards. At the recent University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE
) annual workshop several Western students won awards: Balsam Ibrahim (Shoesmith/Wren) won the first prize (it comes with a hefty $1000 cash); Michael Wu (Wren) and Tom Sutherland (Wren) received honorable mentions.
The students were competing against 55 posters from the top nuclear engineering and science universities (Western, UofT, Queens, McMaster, Guelph, UOIT, RMC, ...). Winning three of the top five posters is a strong showing from Western!
And, at the recently held NanoOntario Conference
, Mohammadali Tabatabaei (Lagugne-Labarthet) won the 2nd best poster prize which was held in Windsor this year. Ali presented his work on "Positioning cells over plasmonic sensors to enable surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy".
Congratulations, Balsam, Michael, Tom and Ali!
