Exercise Classes

The exercise programs at the CCAA were developed as model programs for older adults. Memberships are available for 6-month durations while classes operate on a 12-month or 10-month basis (the gym is closed in the afternoons in July and August). All classes are led by certified Seniors Fitness Instructors. Participants must be 55 years of age and better.

Combined Fitness

A 75-minute group exercise class including accelerated walking or other cardiovascular activity, strength training, flexibility and balance training.

Dynamic Balance

A 60-minute group exercise class for the semi-independent adult. This class is designed to improve overall fitness with special attention to balance. Includes cardiovascular activity, strength and flexibility training.

Get Fit for Active Living

An eight-week education and exercise program to motivate older adults to engage in a more active lifestyle. Learn more about the Get Fit for Active Living participant program.

Osteoporosis

A 75-minute group exercise class including all components of fitness. Offered to those who are at risk for, have been diagnosed with, or have fractured due to osteoporosis.

Strength Training

A 60-minute program that uses a combination of weight equipment, handheld weights and resistance tubing (this program should be supplemented with independent cardiovascular activity).

Yoga

Next session: Wednesday, January 21, 2015 or Thursday, January 22, 2015. A 75-minute class that runs for 10 weeks and is appropriate for CCAA participants, their friends, and family. Yoga improves stability and flexibilty, boosts mental health and overall well-being. Participants are required to bring their own yoga mat.

  2. We will help book your fitness appraisal.
  3. Your fitness appraiser will recommend 2 - 3 exercise classes that best suits your fitness level. Choose one of the recommendations.
  4. Visit or call our reception to complete your purchase of a 6-month membership.

*All participants must complete a fitness appraisal prior to attending any exercise classes. A fitness appraisal service fee of $45 will be charged if the participant does not purchase their membership shortly afterward.
