W3C Standards

In accordance with W3C standards, this site is written with XHTML, and uses CSS to separate design from content. If these Web pages look strange to you, you may be using a Web browser or other device (PDA, cell phone) which is not standards compliant. Western's Department of Communications and Public Affairs recommends using one of the Web standards compliant browsers listed in the sidebar (right). These browsers may be downloaded for free.

Alternatively, you may find the presentaion of this page more easily viewed by turning off style sheets in the Preferences menu item for your browser.

 

Accessibility

The Department of Biology pages are designed to be as accessible as possible for all Web enabled devices. As guidelines, we have used the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (level 3 accessiblity), the Canadian Government's Common Look and Feel, and the U.S. Government's Section 508 Guidelines.
