As part of London Biotech Week 2011, the Pest Genomics and Plant Breeding in Sustainable Agricultural Pest Management Group at the University of Western Ontario in partnership with TechAlliance will host the Future of Food: bioCEP3 (Biotechnology, Crops, Education, Policy, Production and Perception). This one-day workshop will bring to light and facilitate discussion on budding issues and topics in food biotechnology, including genetic crop development and modification. The event will feature sessions on the following topics:
- Food Production vs. Population Growth, and Sustainable Agriculture
- Biotechnology and Food
- Public Perception and Education
- Regulation
- Funding
The target audience for this event includes university and college faculty, researchers, students, industry representatives, government and members of the agricultural community. The goal of this interactive workshop is to bring together stakeholders from all sectors of the food production industry to discuss current issues and future opportunities.
