Getting to London is easy!

London is situated less than 200 km West of Toronto and 200 km East of Detroit, along the trans Canada Highway (Hwy 401), and boasts an international airport (YXU), serviced by two daily United Airlines’ flights from Chicago. Air Canada (via Air Jazz) operates several daily flights between Toronto and London, while WestJet has direct flights from Calgary.

Driving Instructions to Western Campus Residences:

From the East, including Toronto’s Pearson Int’l Airport

Follow the signs from the airport car rental lot to Hwy 401 West.

Follow Hwy 401 West for approx. 161 km (100 miles) to Highbury Ave. (exit 189). Follow Highbury Ave. North approx. 9 km to Oxford Street. Turn left (West) onto Oxford Street, 3.8 km to Richmond Street. Turn Right (North) onto Richmond St., 1.7 km to the University of Western Ontario gates (University Drive). Turn Left (West) onto University Drive. Elgin Hall is approx. 0.5 km along University Drive, on the right.

For Windermere Manor:

 

Follow the Directions to the Western campus, except instead of turning onto University Drive, continue along Richmond St North to Windermere Rd (approx. 1 km). Turn left (West) onto Windermere Rd, < 1 km to Collip Circle. Turn right on to Collip Cr., left at the first all-way stop and right at the second all-way stop. Prepare to turn left half way up the hill, to the entrance to Windermere Manor.

For the Station Park All Suites Hotel:

Follow the Directions to the Western campus, except from Oxford St, turn left (South) onto Richmond St.  < 1 km to Pall Mall St. Turn left on to Pall Mall St. and the Station Park will be on your left.

From the West including Detroit’s Metropolitan Airport:

Option 1: Bluewater Bridge between Port Huron MI and Sarnia ON:

Head southwest on W G Rogell Dr toward International Dr. (1.6 mi). Merge onto I-94 E via the ramp to Detroit (77.6 Mi). Continue onto Bluewater Bridge E. Continue onto ON-402 E (42.6 mi). Take exit 69 for Hickory Drive/County Road 39 toward Strathroy. Turn right onto Hickory Dr/County Road 39 (1.8 mi). Turn right onto Egremont Dr/County Road 22 E (14.2 Mi). Turn right onto Richmond St S/ON-4 S (1.7 Mi) to University Drive. Turn Right (West) onto University Drive. Elgin Hall is approx. 0.5 km along University Drive, on the right.

Option 2: Ambassador Bridge between Detroit, MI and Windsor, ON:

Head southwest on W G Rogell Dr toward International Dr (1.6 mi). Merge onto I-94 E via the ramp to Detroit (15.3 mi). Take exit 213B to merge onto I-96 E toward Canada (1.4 mi). Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Toledo/Interstate 75 S/Interstate 96 S Keep right at the fork (0.5 mi), Continue straight (0.4 mi); Slight right (466 ft). Take the ramp onto Ambassador Bridge. Continue onto Ambassador Bridge/ON-3 E/ON-3 O; Continue onto ON-401 E (signs for London). Take Exit 186 (Wellington St). From the off ramp, turn left (North) onto Wellington St. for 4.7 Mi to York St. Turn left on to York St. for 0.2 mi to Richmond St. Turn Right on to Richmond St 2.1 mi to the Western University gates (University Drive). Turn Left (West) onto University Drive. Elgin Hall is approx. 0.5 km along University Drive, on the right.

By Air:

The city of London has an international airport (YXU), serviced by two daily United Airlines’ flights from Chicago. Air Canada (via Air Jazz) operates several daily flights between Toronto and London, while WestJet has direct flights from Calgary.

Travelers entering Canada via the London International Airport can clear customs & immigration in London.

The University of Western Ontario campus is a short (15 minute) cab/limo ride (approx. $22.00 plus tip) from the airport. Alternatively, rental cars can be arranged at the airport.

The Robert Q Shuttle

The Robert Q™ Airbus shuttle (www.robertq.com) serves both Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (approx. $62. per person, one way) and Detroit’s Metropolitan Airport (approx. $78. per person, one way). Tickets can be booked online. Travel time between either Toronto’s Pearson International Airport or Detroit’s Metropolitan Airport is approximately 2-2.5 hours, with the final destination being the Rober Q™ terminal on Warncliffe Ave. The Western campus, or any of the off campus accommodation sites are reached via a short 10-15 minute cab/limousine ride.

London is serviced by daily trains running along the Toronto-Windsor corridor. For information regarding schedules and fares, please visit the Via Rail website at www.viarail.ca.
