Graduate Student Opportunities

I am always interested in taking on students and post-docs with their own great ideas, or to work on ideas that I have.  If you wish to be considered for admission as a graduate student please send a letter describing your interests and experience and how they relate to my research program. Please also include a CV and GPA.

For fall 2010 I am seeking Post-docs, PhD or MSc students to undertake any of a wide variety of experiments using the Advanced Facility for Avian Research and its hypobaric wind tunnel. These include: 1) the effects of altitude on flight costs, 2) the effects of diet on fuel selection and flight performance, and 3) kidney function in flight under variable environmental conditions.  I am also seeking students to apply plasma metabolite analysis and other physiological methods to study the effects of ecological factors (habitat, competition, weather) on refueling performance of migratory birds during stopover.
