Graduate Opportunities

I am seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic student at either the Ph.D. or M.Sc. level to work on a project studying the molecular mechanisms by which thiol based compounds prevent neurotoxicity in Huntington’s disease cell culture and Drosophila models. This project will entail a molecular and biochemical analysis of the transcriptional responses initiated by thiol-based drugs which ultimately promote increased expression of stress and antioxidant proteins.

The applicant should have a minimum of a B.Sc. in either Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology or a relevant discipline. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, RT-PCR, Western blotting and immunofluorescent staining is highly desired. Interested applicants should submit a CV and a brief outline of your relevant interests and experience via Email to Robert Cumming at rcummin5@uwo.ca http://www.uwo.ca/biology/Faculty/cumming/index.htm

Preference will be given to Canadian students. International students need to demonstrate an exceptional research record and outstanding written and oral communication skills in English.
