Although the School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities is an undergraduate program, students are exposed to research-intensive opportunities similar to those found at the graduate level. During their fourth and final year, students undertake experiential learning courses in research and teaching, for example. The capstone course revolves around a specific theme that is examined from all of the disciplinary perspectives available in the Faculty.
The School issues a yearly online journal publishing top interdisciplianary essays from the School, the Faculty, and other institutions across Canada and the US. This journal is run by the students of the School, who coordinate every aspect of its publication. Through this hands-on immersive experience, students will collaborate and decide the theme and content of each particular issue and how best to disseminate the final product. This opportunity will expose students to the publishing process, and will inspire them to produce their own work to contribute to the publication.
