• The Canadian Council on Animal Care - The Canadian regulatory body overseeing animal based research at Universities in Canada.
• Memorandum of Understanding The Memorandum between NSERC, SSHRC and CIHR and research institutions outlines the terms whereby these agencies agree to provide funding to institutions.  Schedule 3 provides information of "Ethical Review of Research Involving Animals."  The policy is based on CCAC guidelines.
• Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) - This ministry oversees the use of animals in research and administers the Animals for Research Act (below.)
• Ontario Animals for Research Act - This act is administered through OMAFRA. Regulation 24 of the Act is the part of the act that pertains to animals in research facilities.
• MAPP 7.12 Policy and Procedures for the Use of Animals in Research and Teaching  Outlines procedures that must be used by investigators wishing to animals at the University.
• MAPP 7.10 Standardized Training in Animal Care and Use Outlines the institutional training program for all individuals involved in animal care and use at Western and Lawson, including training requirements.
• Terms of Reference for the UCAC including Committee composition
• Terms of Reference for the Animal Care Governance Steering Committee (ACGSC) a UCAC working subcommittee
