1) Graduate Student Expectations (M.Sc. or Ph.D. positions):

 

Students may enter through the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology Graduate Program or Department of Physiology & Pharmacology Graduate Program.  For more extensive and official UWO requirements, please see their websites.

  • Persons who are interested graduates with an Hon. B.Sc. in one of the medical sciences with a GPA of about 3.5 or higher are welcome to apply
  • Preference for M.Sc. student positions will be given to those students who desire to complete a Ph.D. in the future
  • Students are accepted depending on qualification, interest, and availability of positions

2) Postdoctoral Fellowship Expectations:

 

Positions are available to study:

  1. Mechanisms underlying connexin skin diseases
  2. Mechanisms associated with the transport, assembly, and turnover of wild-type and disease-relevant connexin mutants
  • Successful applicants will have a major input into the design and execution of his/her research project
  • While funding for these positions has been secured, successful applicants will be encouraged to apply for independent post-doctoral fellowships
  • These postdoctoral fellows will join a team of Gap Junction Researchers consisting of four independent laboratories in newly renovated space complemented with new instrumentation in state-of-the-art imaging
  • Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree, and preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology or high-resolution time-lapse imaging of fluorescent protein-tagged molecules in live cells
  • Duration is 2-3 years for this position
