Education

The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is committed to excellence in education, and delivers courses in all the sub-disciplines of Anatomy (Cell Biology, Histology, Gross Anatomy & Embryology and Neuroanatomy) at graduate, undergraduate, and professional levels.

Anatomy courses, including dissection labs, are integral parts of a number of professional programs, such as Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders, as well as in the Kinesiology undergraduate program. Courses in gross anatomy, histology and cell biology are also offered in the third and fourth years of the undergraduate Bachelor of Medical Sciences program. Department faculty also teach a number of courses specifically tailored for students in the Anatomy and Cell Biology Graduate Program. Finally, faculty members teach in various medical residency programs, including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology and provide courses to professional groups, such as Manual Therapists and Physiotherapists.

In addition to being excellent teachers, Department faculty are also educator/scholars and contribute to the development of new educational programs in a number of ways, including: the production of new teaching aids, such as DVDs and interactive CDs; development of innovative technology for distance learning; organizing and participating in regional and national education workshops; designing new course offerings and curriculae.
